Icherisheher

Icherisheher, also known as the Old City or Inner City, represents the heart of Baku, Azerbaijan. It is an ancient city fortress with a history that stretches back well over a thousand years.

Encompassed by well-preserved defensive walls, Icherisheher is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000. The area is famous for its labyrinthine alleys, historic stone buildings, and significant landmarks, including the Palace of the Shirvanshahs and the Maiden Tower. The latter is an iconic symbol of Baku, offering panoramic views of the city and the Caspian Sea.

Icherisheher is not only a historical treasure but also a living area, hosting a vibrant community, art galleries, traditional Azerbaijani restaurants, and souvenir shops, making it a critical cultural and tourist hub in Baku.
